ABOUT SIMI VALLEY CONSERVES
SIMI VALLEY CONSERVES IS NOW CLOSED!!!
Simi Valley Conserves is a free service offered to the residents of Simi Valley, a joint program offered by the City of Simi Valley and OpTerra Energy Services. Simi Valley Conserves is a locally branded program that uses a suite of services from OpTerra, known as The Capacity Project.
Simi Valley Conserves has three goals:
- Help residents save energy and money.
- Boost the local economy. The less spent on utility bills, the more is spent at local businesses.
- Employ high school interns. The paid internships provide valuable job training.
OPTERRA ENERGY SERVICES
OpTerra works across California, helping schools, community colleges and cities save energy and money. Simi Valley Conserves is part of a broader partnership with the City of Simi Valley, and OpTerra is installing 2.2 MW of solar photovoltaic power at five City locations, including the Wastewater Treatment Plant, City Hall and the Police Department. In addition, energy efficiency measures are being installed at various locations. Once construction is complete, the City will have lower utility bills. BROADER GOALS OF OPTERRA’S CAPACITY PROJECT
Energy savings are a unique way to help cities achieve broader goals. The Capacity Project, OpTerra’s suite of local economic development and workforce development services, helps cities deepen the impact of energy savings. The name, The Capacity Project, was inspired by a comment made by Mayor Luis Molina of Patterson, CA: “Your program is building our city’s capacity – educating our youth and building them for the workforce.” The Capacity Project has been rolled out in two California cities, Livermore and Patterson, and several more are slated to come online in 2016 and 2017. The Capacity Project was jointly developed by OpTerra Energy Services and WattzOn, a company based in Mountain View, CA. WattzOn provides the software tools and local programming for Simi Valley Conserves.
The Capacity Project is a unique way to enhance a community, building its capabilities for a fiscally sustainable and environmentally sustainable future.
